What is Academic Notice Standing?

Academic Notice standing is the first tier of MSU Denver’s three-tiered Academic Standing Policy. This academic standing is applied to a student’s account whose overall GPA drops below a 2.00 for their most recent semester after grades post.

Academic Notice Standing Expectation:

Students on Academic Notice standing will have until the end of their next semester attending classes to improve their overall GPA to at or above a 2.00 and be placed back into Good Academic standing or have more registration and GPA requirements added to their student account (see Academic Recovery standing).

Planning for Your Next Semester on Academic Notice Standing…

Recommended actions to take:

  • Develop and ‘plan of action’ for the next semester based off what you discovery in your reflection.

  • Schedule and meet with your academic advisor to go over your plan and seek their recommendations for class scheduling and campus resources (via the Navigate360 Student app).

  • Make changes to your class schedule. Plan to retake classes that meet major/minor requirements or, if you think you can get a passing grade, classes that meet general studies (outside of required courses).

  • Be thoughtful and do not overload your class schedule. You will be able to attend classes at MSU Denver even if you do not improve your overall GPA to at or above a 2.00 after this next semester.
